Aspen, bombs and my new years eve.

The Low Down:
Last night all of Aspen, Colorado was shut down. Losing restaurants, clubs and hotels millions of dollars. A ton of people and I had to adjust our plans and either stay in or head to Snowmass, CO. Why!? A former disgruntled silver minor planted several crewd explosives made of dynamite and gasoline in the downtown with the message of “mass death”.

Now a Little History:
I am writing this post from the trailer court in Aspen, Colorado. I lived in Aspen the summer of 2006 when I met my girlfriend who is a local of Aspen and I get the opportunity to come and spend winter break with her and her family. She is now a student at BU and I am starting an internship in Boston.
My Night:
My girlfriend and I left Aspen Highlands ski area around 3:30 as we got back into the center of Aspen there were all ready fire trucks and RFTA buses blocking off the area around downtown. Around 4 we first heard that there was a bomb scare in downtown and they were blocking off the downtown. We ran some errands downtown and only a few sections were blocked of. People were still walking freely around and there were people taking advantage of the photo ops in front of the fire trucks. Around 6 is when the rumors started to role in and thats when it got interesting. We heard that there were bombs in the Gap, 65k had been stolen from Wells Fargo, bombs had exploded, terrorist were involved, a crazy old silver minor was behind it (true) and much much more. Eventually we made it to the Mall in Snowmass and had a great night even though they were horibly understaffed proving Snowmass didnt plant the bombs, (haha) and had a wonderful night. All in all it will make a great South Park episode (you herd it here first) and was taken care of quickly. Well its off to Lostoria for our postponed NYE dinner. Aspen will do its fireworks tonight!
